A Trip to Sydney

Posted on April 10, 2016

Sydney is nice.

I was only there a few days, but got to see some wonderful sights I hadn’t seen before and explore some of the areas around the harbour. We spent some time in the city, and visited two main places; Taronga Zoo and Watson’s Bay. Firstly, the Zoo.

We took a ferry from Circular Quay and got to see the harbour on the way, which is a nice sight.

After the short ferry trip, we arrived at the Zoo and had the privilege of waiting in line for a while (always my favourite part)! Before too long though we were on the cable car and heading to the top of the Zoo.

Much to our surprise when we got inside, there were animals everywhere! It was really strange, but cool!

We got so distracted looking at all the animals, that we didn’t have time to even see the Zoo. It’s a shame, but I can always come back another time to see it. After we left the Zoo, we followed a path which led along the beach, through some forest and got to see the sunset on the water. It was really nice. We then took the ferry back to the city and got to see it lit up at night. Try as I might, it was very difficult to get a good photo of it on a moving ferry…

The next day, it was back to the city, but this time a trip to Watson’s Bay. Another ferry ride later and we were on a beautiful beach, by a small town. People were out, swimming in the water, sitting and playing in the park, and generally being joyous which was nice to see.

We followed a path through the park and headed to a lookout over the bay.

We followed the path around the bay, walking around towards the lighthouse and seeing the historical landmarks and locations as we went (none of which I now remember). There was however some trench-like constructions and a big cannon.

After a few hours, the sun began setting and we watched (and photographed) it from near the lighthouse. It’s quite a sight.

After that, it was back to the harbour and home.

TL;DR I went to Sydney. It was good.
